Do you get sucked in by exotic ingredients in skincare products prmosing you to give that elusive glow? I certainly do. When I saw the Body Shop Vitamin C skincare range I knew I have to try it. Vitamin C is not that exotic an ingredient but on further reading I discovered many many benefits of Vitamin C in topical skincare. That and the pretty orange packing of the products got me.
Sometime last year I came home with 3 Body Shop Vit C products.ThE Vitamin C peel off mask, The MicroDermabrasion And the Vitamin C Face polish.
Vitamin C Cleansing Face polish- This is basically a face wash with a few exfoliating granules. Kinda like the Lakme Strawberry Face wash. But these exoliaitng bits are not of much use. This has a sharp citrusy smell Which you may or may not like. I am not a big fan of the smell but it doesnt really bother me.
Price? Rs795
The Good:-
1- It cleanses the skin thoroughly.
The Not so Good:-
1- This is a very drying facewash. In a couple of weeks that I used this my face became very dull. It just strips the face of all moisture.
2- It is very expensive. I don't mind paying for expensive skincare but it should be worth the money. This isn't.
3- I am not a big fan of the smell.
Makeup-Mantra Rating:- 3/10
I am defintely not repurchaisng this ever. I find the Lakme Strawberry Facewash to be much better than this. This makes my skin dry and dull. And this is when I have oily skin. Major disappointment and waste of money. I would not recommended this at all.
Vitamin C Micro Refiner
This is the face exfoliator in the Body shop Vitamin C range.
This has very tiny exfoliating particles and hence the name Microdermabrasion. This is unlike any other product available in Indian market.
Price? Rs995( This is the current price. When I bought this a year back I believe it was cheaper)
The Good:-
1- Very very effective exfoliator. This is the best I have used. The granules are very small and densely packed. Just 5 mins of exfoliating with this and you can bid your dead skin good bye.
2- Since this is densely packed you need a very small amount each time.I have been using this tube for a year and I still have some left.
3- This has never irritated my skin in any way. But since this is microdermabrasion and the exfoliation is quite intense I use this only once a week.
The Not so Good:-
1- It is supposed to smell citrusy but mine doesn't. It smells a little chemically. The smell doesnt linger though.
2- Shelling out around 1 k might seem a lot but this lasts for the longest time.
Makeup- Mantra rating:-9/10
This has been my go to exfoliant this past one year. I have bought a few others but I always come back to this. Everytime I use this my skin just glows.I will be repurchasing this for sure.I would strongly recommendent this product for girls looking for deep exfoliation once a week.
Vitamin C peel off mask
I have to admit the major reason or may be the only reason I got this is because I wanted to try a peel off mask :).I am glad I got it. It makes for a fun beauty spa type thing at home.
Price?Approx Rs 1300
The good:-
1- My skin glows after using this. My skin feels smooth and soft. I love :):).
2- I like the consistency of the product. Its easy to apply and dries within a reasonable time.
3-I love how this works.Just apply a thin layer with the cute little spatula which is included in the box and wait for ten minutes. Then gently peel off.Voila!! clearer skin. Its important to apply in thin layers else the mask wont dry.
4- I feel this is one of the fuss free masks. Doesnt take too much time and doesnt create any mess.
The Not so Good:-
1- Its too expensive. Granted this makes my skin smooth but so does a basic pack of yogurt and oats.
2-Peeling off can be sometimes a little painful especially in places where there is more facial hair.
Makeup- Mantra rating:-7/10
I love using this but I wont neccesarily repurchase. This product might have been discontinued ( I can't spot it in the Body shope website). This serves as a basic and quick pick me up mask.
